Arenella 

Has an extension to the hospitals until today one of the highest parts of the city and the hill Camaldoli, as well as neighbor attacked Vomero where almost (symbiosis), is bordered by the districts Advocate, St. Charles Arena, Star, call . 
Small village gets its name from the sand (arena) that file from the torrents of rainwater Camaldoli. 
In 1914 the Master Plan, the work of the engineer Francesco de Simone, based on the division of the urban building boom in five areas of bourgeois signorole and hotel, recommended for the area Vomero - Arenella the preservation of green belt downstream via Belvedere - Via Aniello Falcone Salvator Rosa - Between Floridiana and Elmo, a focus on safeguarding the surviving green designed to withstand even a few decades. 
A heavily urbanized area has been since the second half of the twentieth century, following the saturation of nearby housing district of Vomero. 

Vomero 

Vomero, the conjunction of three villages of old

Villages since Roman times stood on the Via Puteolis Neapolim for Colles' road before the tunnel linking Fuorigrotta and Mergellina was the only land link between the area Flegrei and the city. 
with the Angevin Naples became the capital in 1266 (remained so until the unification of Italy in 1860). 
Began to rise, therefore the need to climb the slopes of the hill vomerese, especially for strategic reasons. The area then began to be peopled mainly from the construction of the Carthusian Cloister in 1325 and almost simultaneously the Angevin replaced the old lookout tower (from Norman) near which rose the Cloister, with the castle Belforte, core starting the Castel Sant 'Elmo. 
During the plague of 1656 the hill was used as shelter by the nobility and the clergy had in fact affirmed the trend in aristocracy residing in the city center to build a second home in the Vomero. 
The opening of the new funicular railway station, in 1928, facilitating travel between the Vomero and the center led to a significant increase in urbanization, re-orienting themselves towards the big buildings, made the anch'essisecondo styles then in fashion ( from Liberty to neoeclettismo, the first rationalism). The new town was expanded to reach the ancient villages. 
Currently the Vomero is a congested residential area with high population density, but fortunately still retains many original examples of which are an asset for the whole Italian architecture
