The Botanical Gardens
The Botanical Gardens of Naples, also known as Royal Botanical Gardens, is a University of Naples Federico II, part of the Faculty of Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences of the University Frederick. Currently has an area of 12 hectares and is home to about 9,000 plant species and nearly 25000th specimens. It is located in Foria road, near the Royal Hotel of the Poor.

Founded December 28, 1807 by order of Joseph Bonaparte, the botanical garden was built on some land previously belonged to the Religious of Santa Maria della Pace and the hospital of the Quarry.The exhibition areas are arranged according to three criteria. The systematic, ecological and ethnobotanical that. Are part of the area, arranged according to systematic basis the following areas:
- The area of Pinophyta;
- The filiceto for the cultivation of ferns and allied plants;
- The palm;
- The area of Magnoliophyta
- The citrus grove;
and other small areas devoted to individual species.

According to ecological criteria, we find the areas known as:
- Desert, an area intended to accommodate the succulent plants;
- Beach, featuring plants grown more widespread, in fact, on the Italian beaches;
- Bog, which are cultivated Cyperaceae;
- Roccaglia, for the exposure of species typical of calcareous areas of the Apennines;
- Mediterranean
addition to tanks for the cultivation of hydrophytes. Finally, the area is the experimental section ethnobotany of medicinal plants
